Dr David Indermaur

PhD, M.Psych(CLin), B.Sc.(Hons)

Dr Indermaur has worked in the field of corrections and criminology since 1976. His first position was as a psychologist and then clinical psychologist for the Western Australian Department of Corrections.  He has worked on research and evaluation programmes from 1980 and has experience managing a non government youth organisation (Youthcare). Teaching experience includes writing and teaching courses at Simon Fraser University in Canada (1982-1984), Edith Cowan University (1989-1992) and the University of Western Australia  (1993-present).  Research interests include violent crime, public attitudes to crime, measuring crime and public policy on crime. 

Dr Indermaur has been involved in co-ordinating and working on numerous funded research projects. For example he is the recipient of three Criminology Research Council Grants. He has served as a Criminological consultant to a number of projects, for example the recent “Freedom from Fear” campaign against domestic violence in Western Australia. Current research interests concern public opinion and crime policy, young people's experience of domestic violence as well as continuing interest in crime prevention and  trends in crime.
